NOTTS COUNTY SUFFER 2-1 DEFEAT TO BARROW

Published 16/08/2025

Notts County's latest fixture against Barrow ended in a 2-1 defeat, with the home team scoring a defining goal in the 32nd minute. The Magpies fought hard, with Matthew Dennis scoring a consolation goal in the 89th minute, but a draw wasn't to be as Barrow claimed back the winner in extra time.

The match started to fall away from the Magpies with a goal from Barrow's Tyler Walker in the 32nd minute. Notts County made several substitutions throughout the game, with Conor Grant replacing Jayden Luker in the first half, and Matthew Platt and Keanan Bennetts replacing Sonny Aljofree and Nick Tsaroulla in the second half. Notts' fourth and final substitution of the match saw Barry Cotter replace Kellan Gordon in the 75th minute.

Barrow played a decent game, with their first-half goal setting the tone for the rest of match. However, Notts County's dominance in possession, with 67% of the ball, and their accurate passing - with 85% of passes completed - showed that they were not completely out of the game. Barrow's Niall Canavan received a yellow card in the 82nd minute, while Notts County's Jacob Bedeau received a yellow card on 90+2.

Notts' next game is against Shrewsbury on 20/08/2025, 18:45 at Meadow Lane and the Magpies should be looking to capitalise on a defensively weaker Shrewsbury team - though both teams will be looking for their first much-needed win.
