VITAL 1-0 WIN OVER FLEETWOOD TOWN AT MEADOW LANE

Published 06/09/2025

Notts County secured a vital 1-0 victory over Fleetwood Town at Meadow Lane on 3pm on 6th September, courtesy of a well-crafted goal by Matthew Dennis in the 46th minute, assisted by Alassana Jatta. The win sees Notts County solidify what is a very mid-table approach to this season.

The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. However, it was Notts County who managed to capitalize on their chances, with Dennis's goal proving to be the difference maker. Fleetwood Town's Shaun Rooney was the first player to be booked, receiving a yellow card in the 42nd minute.

Notts County's Kellan Gordon and Matthew Palmer were also cautioned, receiving yellow cards in the 52nd and 53rd minutes, respectively. The home team made several substitutions, with Alassana Jatta making way for Conor Grant in the 66th minute, and Matthew Dennis being replaced by Maï Traoré in the 77th minute.

Fleetwood Town also made changes, with Ethan Ennis replacing Jordan Davies in the 61st minute, and James Norwood coming on for Davies in the 75th minute. The visitors' Finley Potter was booked in the 79th minute, and Ryan Graydon received a yellow card in stoppage time.

Despite Fleetwood Town's best efforts, they were unable to find the back of the net, with Notts County's defense holding firm. The visitors had 6 shots on goal, but were unable to convert any of them into goals.

In terms of match statistics, Notts County had 13 total shots, with 4 of them being on target. They also had 9 corner kicks and 58% ball possession. Fleetwood Town, on the other hand, had 12 total shots, with 6 of them being on target. They also had 5 corner kicks and 42% ball possession.

Fleetwood Town's performance was commendable, but they ultimately fell short. They had several scoring opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on them. Their passing accuracy was 68%, compared to Notts County's 74%.

A win in the Pies' fixture against Gillingham next weekend (13/09) at Priestfield Stadium could see them start to build the momentum we've all been waiting for. Gillingham's late equaliser against Bromley this evening keeps them at the top of what is a tightly contested top 3 in the table, so they too will be looking to bounce back and re-secure their lead.
