Notts County 2 - 0 Torquay United

8' Brindley

48' Dennis

Notts County continued their impressive home form against a very good Torquay United with a 2-0 victory and a fifth consecutive clean sheet at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies opened the scoring on 8 minutes after a Kristian Dennis effort from a well worked corner was cleared, but only into the path of right back Richard Brindley who rifled a 30 yard low swerving shot into the bottom corner leaving the Torquay keeper no chance.

The visitors responded well with their best chance in the first half coming from a free kick that was comfortably saved by Slocombe.

Notts started the second half well and further impressed their advantage on 48 minutes with Kristian Dennis netting his third goal in as many games with a glancing header from a Sean Shields free kick wide on the left.

Torquay came close to pulling one back in the latter stages but Connell Rawlinson managed to clear off the line to keep the clean sheet intact.

The win means Notts now find themselves firmly in the play off mix in 5th place and just 5 points behind first placed Halifax.
