As expected it was a tight affair just south of the capital as Notts and Sutton fought out the first top 7 clash of the National League season.

With Wes Thomas and Elisha Sam not travelling with the squad due to illness Neal Ardley set up with a 4-3-3 formation with O'Brien joining Doyle and Reeves in midfield and Wootton flanked by Rodrigues and Boldewijn up front. Brindley came back in at right back with Kelly-Evans moving back over to the left as McCrory dropped to the bench.

Key stats suggest there wasn't much to separate the teams although it does appear Notts edged in most areas.

Minutes played:

Kyle Wootton continued his great early form with a last gasp winner and his fourth goal in three games.

Goal contribution by minutes played updated and Jimmy Knowles assist sees him top the current chart.

Goals + Assists table updated

Both teams were below their average xG ratings for the season during this game which is another indication of just how tight a game it was.

Points needed chart updated and with 4 games played we have a PPG of 2.25 which would put Notts on 99 points at the end of the season. I've dropped the relegation line now just because the chart was looking a bit too busy.

The results tracker above shows results home and away, points gained and PPG.

Up to 3rd in the league progress chart.

Goal time segments:

All 8 of Notts' goals so far have come from open play with 5 inside the 18 yard box and 3 goals from outside the box.

Attacking and defending efficiencies (away) updated below.

Player ratings after 4 matches:

Neal Ardley's record updated:

Maidenhead up next for Notts who typically managed to stem the flow on Tuesday night at Wrexham and will be keen to do the same at Meadow Lane. That said it's a great opportunity for Notts to really push on and make it 4 wins out of 4.

As always thanks for reading.
