John Coleman's Accrington are the visitors to Meadow Lane on Saturday where Notts County will be looking to make it three wins from three at home in this League Two encounter.
Both teams meet after recording identical results so far with three wins, a draw and a loss which sees The 'Owd Reds sitting in third place just ahead of Notts in fourth on goal difference.
Opening day aside, Accrington provide Notts with possibly their greatest challenge of the season so far being the first club Notts have faced from the top half of the table and whilst that's a consideration the biggest challenge will be facing a team that is conceding just 0.8 goals per game.
Under Coleman Accrington are extremely well drilled and organised, especially out of possession. Employing a very disciplined 4-2-3-1 Coleman's team will be happy to let Notts keep the ball whilst they drop back into a more traditional 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 mid to low block. However, it's on the counter attack where they will threaten most, where their wide midfielders which could be any two of McConville, Nolan and Whalley will look to find those pockets of space behind the Notts wingbacks.
Spearheading the attack is Birmingham City loanee Josh Andrews. The 6ft 5 inch 21 year old scored last time out, jumping on a mistake in the Salford defence and he will be a handful for the Notts rear guard. Playing as the lone striker he covers plenty of ground and won't just be a nuisance in the middle as he's happy to work hard to get into positions in the wide areas as well.
Defensively Accrington are big and solid and another player to be wary of is 23 year old Longelo-Mbule. Capable of playing on the left or right as a full back, wingback or defensive midfielder Longelo has great physicality and speed and is not averse to dribbling himself out of trouble and can also be a threat in the attacking phases, cutting in from either flank. It will be interesting to see how Coleman utilises him with Notts having wide attacking threats on both wings.
The bookies appear to fancy a Notts win at 13/20 with 9/2 for the away win and 17/5 for the draw.
Based on these odds (Oddspedia) the outright probabilities work out as Notts win 60.60%, Accrington win 18.18% and 22.73% for the draw.
Notts being at home obviously influences things but these odds are probably a little unfair to Accrington who will potentially offer Luke Williams and his players their toughest test to date. It promises to be an intriguing encounter where attacking flair meets organised physicality.
