It's the battle of the Magpies this Saturday as Maidenhead United visit Meadow Lane in round 5 of the National League season.

Maidenhead who are currently celebrating their 150th year will be hoping their win at Wrexham on Tuesday night is a turning point for them having started the season terribly.

Notts by contrast will be looking at making it 4 wins in a row.

Notts and Maidenhead had never met before last season which saw a 3-0 Boxing Day victory at Meadow Lane for the home team followed by a 0-0 draw a week later in Berkshire.

A quick look at the radar for current form would suggest Maidenhead will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Maidenheads record so far:

P 4 | W 1 | D 0 | L 3 | GF 3 | GA 10 | GD -7 | PTS 3 | PPG 0.75

Notts record so far:

P 4 | W 3 | D 0 | L 1 | GF 8 | GA 4 | GD +4 | PTS 9 | PPG 2.25

Current xG and aG calculations next and it's fair to say Notts have been quite efficient when it comes to actual goals scored compared to expected goals.

Maidenhead have not created much in front of goal and this is evident from their expected goals of just 0.75 per game.

xG Maidenhead Utd = 0.75

aG Maidenhead Utd = 0.75

xG Notts Co = 1.10

aG Notts Co = 2.00

Having conceded 10 goals in the first 3 games it was looking like Maidenhead would be this season's Chorley but the clean sheet at Wrexham may give them the confidence to turn the tide starting on Saturday.

That said Notts are having spells in games now where they are creating plenty of chances and you would fully expect them to be pressing for early goals again like the Barnet game.

Winger Josh Coley will be one to watch having had a good game scoring the winner at Wrexham and there is more strength in attack with experienced target man Nathan Blissett who joined from Solihull Moors in the closed season.

Notts were able to rest a few players on Wednesday at Sutton United and will be hoping Wes Thomas, Adam Chicksen and Elisha Sam are back in contention and recovered from illness.

Notts also found a replacement for the departing Casper Sloth with the loan signing of young Barnsley midfielder Matty Wolfe but he may not be ready in time to feature this Saturday.

Unsurprisingly the bookies have Notts clear favourites at 2/5 meaning they think Notts have a 71% chance of winning.

Maidenhead are at 11/2 for the win meaning a 15% chance of a win and you can get 7/2 for the draw.

Score prediction time again and as you might expect the stats are suggesting a comfortable win for the home team . . .

Notts County 4 - 0 Maidenhead Utd

The stats prediction came unstuck for the Sutton game but lets hope they are back on track again this weekend!

To conclude Notts will not have a better chance to go into the league break and FA Cup weekend on a high and you really would expect a comfortable win for the home team Magpies.
