Competition: Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round
Date: Saturday 16th October 2021
Venue: The Lamb Ground, Tamworth.
All eyes on the FA Cup this weekend as Notts make the short trip to Staffordshire and a Fourth Qualifying Round encounter with Tamworth.
The Lambs currently ply their trade in the Southern League Premier Division Central which is two steps below Notts in the pyramid at tier 7, step 3.
Tamworth have been in decent form this season and sit 5th in the league with 19 points from just 9 matches and with games in hand over teams above them.
Their path to the 4th Qualifying round has seen them score 11 goals in 3 games including a 5-0 win away at Belper.
FA Cup 1Q: Tamworth 3 - 1 Alvechurch
FA Cup 2Q: Belper Town 0 - 5 Tamworth
FA Cup 3Q: Leiston 1 - 3 Tamworth
Notts fans will be aware of former player Tyrell Waite again who made his Lambs debut in 2018 and scored just 1 goal in 8 games for the Magpies.
During his time so far at Tamworth Waite has scored 22 goals in 78 appearances and has even had a spell in the Swedish second division where he scored 9 goals in 15 appearances for SkellefteƄ.
Another player to watch is tricky midfielder Jack Concannon. The 21 year old is a product of Birmingham City's academy and made a senior appearance for the Championship side in the fourth round proper of the FA Cup against Coventry City in 19/20 season.
After a successful loan period in 2019 Concannon made his move to the Lambs permanent in August this year.
There's a possibility that Ian Burchnall might take the view it's an opportunity to rest a few players, particularly the likes of Matty Palmer who hasn't missed a single minute of football for the Magpies this season, closely followed by the likes of Kyle Wootton, Richard Brindley and Ruben Rodrigues.
This might then provide an opportunity for midfielder Frank Vincent to finally give us some idea of what he's all about. The former Bournemouth academy graduate has had to wait patiently for his chance to shine and Saturdays match could be just the springboard he's been waiting for.
There were no meaningful odds available for this game at the time of writing but you would expect Notts to be favourites for the win.
That said Tamworth are in good form having won 5 of their last 6 outings so there will be no room for complacency from Ian Burchnall's men in this potential banana skin of a cup tie.
The FA have confirmed that replay's will return to the competition this season so if there is no winner on Saturday expect a Meadow Lane replay which I would most likely be played the following Tuesday 19th October 2021.
As always thanks for reading.
COYP!
