Despite missing a few key faces Luke Williams was still able to get minutes in the legs of 21 players in a game that saw his Magpies record a 2-0 pre season win against Telford at the New Bucks Head.
First half goals from Dan Crowley and Richard Brindley were enough to secure the win in this 4th pre-season friendly of the scheduled seven games.
Crowley netted in the 10th minute, bravely getting on the end of a Jodi Jones cross to head the ball home from close range. This was a goal bookended by to great goal scoring opportunities for the hosts who were unable to capitalise on their chances.
Notts came close again with David McGoldrick coming close with the first of several chances before Richard Brindley's well struck goal put the Magpies two to the good. Some clever interplay between John Bostock and McGoldrick saw Jones in space again out on the left wing with his dangerous cross headed clear by Telford only for the ball to fall invitingly for Brindley who made no mistake with a shot reminiscent of his goal at home to Torquay a couple of seasons ago.
There were two changes for Notts at half time with Lucien Mahovo and Sam Austin replacing Kyle Cameron and Will Randall respectively.
McGoldrick continued where he left off in the first half, again coming close after striking a cleverly work shot against the underside of the bar in a 20 minute spell that also saw Macaulay Langstaff come close.
There were more changes on 70 minutes with Williams replacing no less than 8 players for the remaining 20 minutes.
Cedwyn Scott, Jim O'Brien and Luther Munakandafa all had chances to add to the scoreline but some great goalkeeping and brave defending by the host ensured the score remained 2-0 until the final whistle.
