ALFRETON TOWN 0 : 5 NOTTS COUNTY

A quick fire hattrick from Macaulay Langstaff set Notts on their way to a comfortable 5 -0 win at The Impact Arena.

In what was the Magpies penultimate pre-season friendly several key players were left out including Matty Palmer, Connell Rawlinson, Dan Crowley, Aaron Nemane and Jodi Jones whilst there was a welcomed return to the playing squad for influential central defender Aiden Baldwin.

Notts were on the front foot from the get go creating a string of chances in the first half before Langstaff guided home the opener on 34 minutes from a Jim O'Brien cross.

He didn't have have to wait long for his second, stabbing the ball home after great work by Adam Chicksen down the left. The strikers third came just 6 minutes later, a fantastic through ball by David McGoldrick found O'Brien in space and the midfielder did enough to play the ball into the path of Langstaff who calmly netted after rounding the Alfreton keeper.

Langstaff and Adebayo-Rowling made way for Cedwyn Scott and Will Randall respectively and it took just 3 minutes for Scott to bag his second goal in two games cooly put away a cross at the far post from Chicksen to put the Magpies 4 up.

The icing on the cake was provided by the ever impressive David McGoldrick who, after picking up a ball from O'Brien in the final third beat his man before slamming home a ferocious shot from 30 yards out to wrap up the scoring.
