Aldershot Town were the visitors to Meadow Lane on Saturday and despite losing their first three games of this campaign they were ambitious enough to think they could make their way back down to Hampshire with something to show for their endeavours.

To be fair to them they made Notts work for the points but on reflection Notts did have the ball in the back of the net five times and even if you give the referee the benefit of doubt with the goal ruled out for Dion Kelly-Evans there's no dispute that the match officials made a blunder of gigantic proportions in judging Jim O'Brien was offside when he neatly tucked away a right footed effort in the box.

In fairness to the referee's assistant, Jim's run into the box was that fast that Einstein himself would have struggled to compute the four-dimensional fabric of space and time left in the wake of the Scotsman's vortex!

Anyway, all's well that ends well and although Danny Searle's men were disappointed to be heading back down the M1 empty handed I have it on good authority that they were generally pleased and buoyed by their performance in the hope that it bodes well for the future.

OK, on to the stats starting with the key match actions.

On the face of it it certainly looks like Notts edged it in most area's but Aldershot definitely made a positive contribution to the game.

Points needed with average points for first, third, top seven and relegation based on last 5 seasons. Based on last 5 seasons 2.00 PPG should be enough to get you somewhere close to winning the title.

Expected goals below and Notts clearly had more chances but Aldershot spurned a great chance to equalise with a phase of play that had 3 attempts on goal finishing with Berkeley-Agyepong scooping the ball over the bar after Slocombe had made two very good saves in a matter of seconds.

Based on the above xPTS for Notts was 1.90 and win% estimated at 63.33%.
