You could argue that the big miss by Rodrigues on 4 minutes and the second penalty not being given may have changed the dynamic of this game, but looking at the stats Notts have won well against teams this season with worse numbers.

Fair play to Aldershot, they had a plan, stuck to it and reaped the rewards. It's a conundrum for Notts who struggle against a high press but equally find it difficult to break down a low block and recover when attacking possession is lost and the opposition counter at pace.

Anyway here's the stats.

Progress updated: With a prevailing wind we should hopefully hold on to 5th place to guarantee a home qualifier in the play-off's.

National League results tracker updated.

Goal segment chart: It looks like the inability to avoid shipping goals in the first and last 15 minutes of games have contributed to Notts' undoing over the course of the season.

Six game segments updated. 9 Points from 15 so far in this final 8 game segment.

Player stats updated:

As usual this is the new table that is also available to view on the player stats page of the website here. There will also be separate tables for the two cup competitions.

You can hover on the dots (tap if on a touch screen) to view details for each goal.

xG (expected goals): Somehow Notts managed to lose this one!

Key xG match stats: Now my head hurts.

Player xG Stats and 6 of the 16 goal attempts recording a value below 0.01. We can see Rodrigues had a big chance on 4 minutes and also the 0.76 for Roberts' penalty.

No attempts on goal at all for Notts in the first 15 mins of the second half, in fact they failed to get a shot off 37 - 62 minutes.

National League goal scorers includes cup games, penalties and own goals.

Ian Burchnall's record updated after 67 games.

I suggested Aldershot would be a bigger challenge than that faced down at Dover midweek. That said, if you could pick anyone to play at home to try and banish the ghost of this defeat you couldn't ask for more than Dover again at home.

We will of course expect a response, and a big one at that. Anything less will no doubt spread unrest amongst those in the terraces.

As always thanks for reading.
