Notts County 1 - 1 Bromley

As expected Bromley provided stiff opposition for Notts. The visitors were extremely well organised and hard working making life very difficult for Notts in the first half despite a promising 10-15 minutes start. That said the Magpies had chances to take the lead before the break with Kyle Wootton failing to convert what was essentially a carbon copy of the chance he had against Stockport on Saturday.
Notts came out for the second half with some intent and took the lead within a minute of the restart thanks to a quite remarkable goal from Kyle Cameron who curled the ball into the far corner after some great link up play between Taylor and O'Brien.
This was Cameron's third goal of the season and further emphasised the reason the club were so keen to bring him to Meadow Lane in the summer.
Notts continued to control the game but Bromley's organised defence restricted the hosts to half chances and pot shots.
Despite the hosts continuous control of the game it was the visitors who scored next with Michael Cheek adding to his tally of 10 goals for the season having pounced on a loose ball that Patterson was unable to keep hold of after a good save from substitute Alabi's shot.
With 10 minutes to play Notts continued to go in search for the winner and came close when Cal Roberts, who had replaced Vincent on 68 minutes struck the crossbar with a venomous left foot shot.
Kairo Mitchell came on for a tired and battered Ruben Rodrigues on 90 minutes and probably had the best chance to win the game from 18 yards out but tamely placed his shot into the midriff of the Bromley keeper.
It was still another encouraging performance from Notts against the form team in the league who will no doubt be much happier with the point than Ian Burchnall's men.

If ever you needed an explanation of how Bromley have done so well so far this season the xG visual above should more than provide it for you.
As you can see it's not the number of chances created but the high expectation of converting chances into goals. This will be down to most of their chances being created deep inside the oppositions penalty box.
This is something we witnessed last night, with Bromley packing the 6 yard box with players at every set piece opportunity. For most of the match Notts did an excellent job of keeping Bromley at bay and it was a bit of fortune for the visitors that provided them with the goal when Michael Cheek was able to convert from about a yard out for a goal with a very high xG value of 0.81 which contributed massively to Bromley's xG match total.
Notts' player xG below and by contrast despite creating many more chances the actual quality of the opportunities was not great. Kyle Wootton had the best chance in the first yard. Kyle Cameron's goal came in at just 0.04 suggesting that he would only be expected to convert that chance 4 times in every 100 attempts.

With the high value chances created by Bromley they would have been expected to convert more than they did suggesting they would have done enough to win the game.
