Line-up's

First defeat of the season for Ian Burchnall's men and despite having all 3 senior CB's and Goalkeeper out with injury it was a lack of prowess in front of goal that was probably the biggest contribution to the loss.

Each of the three missing defenders actually offer an offensive quality that maybe would have made all the difference. In Kyle Cameron we missed a player who can really impose himself on a game, has the ability to drive forward with the ball and is always a threat at set pieces.

Connell Rawlinson will often make a nuisance of himself at set pieces and Alex Lacey has the ability to build from the back and provide a killer pass into deep areas.

They essentially offer another dimension to the attacking side of the game that was definitely missing against Altrincham.

Key match stats.

Some interesting data from the match stats above which suggests Notts were well on top in the construction stats such as possession and passing but really only managed to create one big chance which Ruben Rodrigues failed to convert.

It's clear Altrincham were happy to let Notts keep possession and play their usual passing game and despite Notts also playing a higher tempo Altrincham generally managed to keep their opponents at bay and reduce them to half chances resulting in just one attempt on target from 16 attempts by Notts.

Progress updated and a drop from 4th to 6th, but in the scheme of things other results meant that despite the defeat Notts remain in a decent position and just 4 points off top placed Dagenham.

Results tracker updated.

Goal segment chart updated and Altrincham's goal the only one to be scored so far this season in the first 30 minutes.

Six game segments updated.

Player stats next and this is the new table that is also available to view on the player stats page of the website here.

Goals and assists chart.

Goal scatter chart.

Expected goals and in reality despite all the possession Altrincham just come out on top but a draw would maybe have been a fair result.

Based on the above xPTS for Notts was 1.18 and win% estimated at 46%.

Player xG below. Ruben Rodrigues with the only decent chance.

National League top scorers updated.

Ian Burchnall's record updated after 27 matches.

Back at Meadow Lane on Saturday where Woking are the visitors. Listening to Ian Burchnall at the fans forum last night it sounds like we could have Alex Lacey back again which would be a real boost.

Preview of the Woking game will follow later in the week.

As always thanks for reading.

Until next time.
